WoW Warlock Soloing 41-60

Read this WoW Warlock Soloing 41-60 to know more about the way of soloing warlock now.

Levels 41-60 are some of the best in game. You finally have your mount. Your talents have accumulated enough to introduce some new spell and the warlocks strengths are starting to shine. This is our time! Warlocks are powerful enough to handle multiple mobs and breeze through difficult quests with ease. Now it's just a race to Outland. The right rotations and a good understanding of the hidden powers your chosen talent school provides make this some of the fastest content in game.

Rotations for levels41 to 60 are going to be much more based on your spec. Early on, talents have modified your character to benefit your play style. By the time you reach level 50 the talents you choose will start defining your character and the rotations you'll use. Collectively the points are gathering into base abilities and will define which ability has the best damage to mana ratio and/or survivability/utility for different encounters.

At level 50, if you have spent all your talent points in one School, you will notice each school has a defining ability. Affliction receives Unstable Affliction. Demonology receives FelGuard and Destruction receives Shadowfury.

The basic strategy for pulling mobs will remain the same but we have to modify our rotation based on our spec. We'll base these rotations off a level 50 build as it will include the talented abilities listed above.

Affliction

The afflictrion tree has most of it's power in DOTs. Use your voidwalker to hold the best aggro and start with Unstable Affliction since it has a cast time and can be done while your voidwalker is traveling. Follow it up with Curse of Agony, then Corruption and finally Siphon Life. Now that your DOTs are up you can fill with Drain Life/Shadow Bolts. Definitely make use of Nightfall any time it is up. There is a good glyph called the ¡°Glyph of Corruption¡± that will stack with Nightfall. These instant Shadow Bolts will fill spaces between your DOTs. The trick is to not recast your DOTs early. Life Tap to replace lost mana and drain life to replace lost health from life tap, then rinse and repeat. This is truly a powerful solo build and probably the most efficient.

Affliction Rotation

1. Send Voidwalker
2. Curse of Agony
3. Corruption
4. Siphon life
5. Drain Life
a. Shadow Bolt when Nightfall/Glyph of corruption procs

Demonology

Start by sending your felguard. Have charge on autocast. If you are pulling one mob at a time, you can disable the cleave autocast to save your pet's mana. I often forget to turn it back on so be sure to watch. Then cast a Curse of Agony followed by Corruption. Because they are instant casts they can begin to run their course while you cast demonic empowerment then spam Shadow Bolt. The strength in the demonology school is the felguard. It is able to hold aggro much better than the voidwalker but is more positioned as a single target tank. Affliction warlocks will tend to DOT all mobs in a multi-pull group. For demonology I would recommend using more of a focused fire strategy. The guard will be capable of holding hate on more than one creature but you will lose the benefit of your build. If necessary, you can apply a Curse of Agony or a Corruption to any extra mobs then back to focus on lowest health creature. Pet management is critical here. You will want proactive tabbing to your next target and forcing your felguard to attack the next focused fire target. When possible a nice trick is to call your felguard to come back to you by casting the ¡°Follow¡± spell on your pet's cast bar then casting the ¡°Attack¡± ability once your pet has gained some distance from the enemy. This will cause your pet to charge the creature and stun with his Intercept ability, which should always be left on autocast.

Demonology Rotation

1. Send felguard using charge
2. Curse of Agony
3. Corruption
4. Demonic Empowerment
5. Shadow Bolt (repeat Shadow Bolt till dead)

Destruction

Destruction is not the best for solo play. It is very powerful but relies on hitting hard. Certainly doable, but it has a more complicated rotation. Your spells are going to hit a bit hard for any minion to hold hate effectively. For this reason I tend to use my imp instead of the voidwalker. The imp is present more to buff your spellcasts rather than tank the mob. With correct timing, the imp will distract the mob enough for you to start nuking the creature. An important note here: because you will pull hate rather quickly, backlash becomes an important talent for its ability to provide you with an instant Shadow Bolt or Incinerate when hit with a physical attack.

So, start by having the imp firebolt from range then get Immolate up on the target. You will almost immediately pull aggro. Follow that up with Corruption and Curse of Agony. Curse of Agony can be substituted with curse of elements for a damage boost, but we are using the shadow damage DOTs in the hopes of Molten Core becoming active which would add another 15% to your damage. Once you get your chosen curse up, follow it with Conflagrate. This will cause Backdraft to become active giving a 10% reduced mana and cast time reduction to destruction spell. Up to level 60 we don't yet have our desired chaos bolt so we will use incinerate instead. I really recommend having the glyph of conflagrate for this play style. This way, when you use conflagrate to force Backdraft to proc, you will not lose your immolate spell DOT.

Destruction Rotations

1. Force Imp to attack
2. Cast Immolate
3. Cast Corruption (optional)
4. Cast Curse of Agony
5. Use Conflagrate to cause Backdraft
6. Finish with Multiple Incinerates
a. At 60 cast Chaos Bolt then two (2) Incinerates

Additional Abilities

Very few new abilities are gained from levels 41-60 so our options to include additional abilities are limited. There is however a new ability, Deathcoil, that should be used whenever you need to distance yourself from a mob. In addition to providing some instance relief it will also heal you for the amount of damage it does. Your first instinct will be to use this as a MOB approaches to avoid any damage at all. I found it more efficient to wait until some damage was done and finish my rotation on other mobs. Once I have completed my rotations use deathcoil to gain the distance and heal myself for the damage done. This should also be use to separate yourself from any mob that has a damaging AOE.

Deathcoil

  • Obtained at level 42. Useful soloing spell to provide an additional self heal, distance yourself from MOBS and avoid enemy AOE effects.

Soulfire

  • Obtainable at level 48. Long casting spell with a soulshard reagent. Using this in your rotation requires careful shard management. Best suited to be included into the rotation of a destruction warlock.

Curse of Doom

  • Curse of doom can be very useful if used when you have an accidental multiple pull. This will allow the curse to sit on the target doing no damage so therefore no threat. Once time has expired it will allow for a powerful damage hit. I often use in conjunction with banish. When timed correctly, doom will hit as banish expires and give you a big advantage over the creature. Just be careful and ready to enslave if the curse kills the target.

Warlock Quests (41-60)

Unlike previous level, the 41-60 range does not have many options for class specific quests. There is one available titled ¡°Trolls of a feather¡± which starts with ¡°Imp's Request¡± in Felwood. The rewards are not bad for the level but in my honest opinion it is not worth the time it takes to do them. Obtained at level 50 and complete able around level 52, the rewards just aren't unique enough to justify the delay to outlands at level 58. At one point I would argue otherwise as the trinket quest reward used to allow the summon of a voidwalker without the soulshard requirement. That made it worth it. But now, the change has made it more of an option then a must have. The change also makes the other reward items much more viable. Given the perfect situation, i.e. Guild run or perfect group and extra time on hand, go for it. Otherwise, keep plugging away and head to outland in a few level for much better gear rewards with much less time investment needed.
