WOW PVP gear is gear that makes your characters very powerful. For the most part Arena isn't as popular as the battlegrounds for but for those who do want to try their hand in the arenas they will need some good gear with lots of resilience to get started. Resilience stats will improve how your charcter does in a PVP setting, it doesn't really help with raiding or instances though. If you ever try to jump in an arena match you'll see that you die quickly while your attacks don't do much of anything to the guys you are fighting, this is because of resilience.

The best way to get this gear is from doing battlegrounds. You can do battlegrounds without WOW PVP gear because a lot of the other guys in the game aren't using it. Some people do battlegrounds just because its one of the dailes and these guys aren't really interested in PVP gear.

When I start working on getting WOW PVP gear I always like to do the daily battlegrounds first, and always spend the weekends working on the battleground that is granting extra honor. If you didn't already know every weekend a different battleground is chosen for extra honor. During the week I'll normally do a lot of Alterac Valley because even if you lose AV you will still get a lot of honor.

I'll start buying my PVP gear one piece at a time until I have a full set, and then I'll decide whether or not I want to try and get the arena gear.
